Championship outfit Blackburn Rovers insist that they do not need to sell in-demand front man Jordan Rhodes when the winter transfer window opens again for business in the new year, despite the club now being £54 million in debt, according to reports in the Sun.

The highly rated Scotland international has only been at Ewood Park since September 2012, when Rhodes joined the club from Huddersfield Town on a five-year deal for a whopping £8m.

However, with Blackburn losing a reported £36.5m last year after being relegated from the Premier League, it had been expected that the club would be forced to offload their prize asset, in January but Rovers are adamant that they will keep hold of the 23-year-old come what may at the turn of the year.
