Winger is really starting to bring his A-game to Spain now.
La Liga giants Real Madrid splashed out a world-record transfer sum in order to bring coveted Tottenham Hotspur wide man Gareth Bale to the Santiago Bernabeu earlier this summer, however, even los Blancos would have been surprised to see the effect that their new man had on an opposition defender last weekend.
Madrid were taking on city-rivals Rayo Vallecano on their travels on Saturday in a crucial league contest, having lost ground on runaway leaders and arch enemy FC Barcelona in El Clasico the weekend before after a 2-1 loss at Camp Nou.
However, with the visitors seemingly cruising towards a comfortable victory in the Spanish capital, leading Rayo 2-0, the world’s most expensive player then reminded the whole of Spain just why Madrid had invested a whopping 100 million euros to bring Bale to the White House at the beginning of September.
The Wales international was racing down the wing and as Rayo defender Anaitz Arbilla attempted to intercept the ball, the Spaniard virtually ended up taking a seat in the front row of the stands as Bale played a brilliant flick past him, before then racing down the flank and laying a goal on a plate for playmaker Cristiano Ronaldo.
But Arbilla was left so distraught by his very public humiliation that he had to be substituted in tears …
