Fiorentina striker Khouma Babacar has confirmed that West Ham United have made contact with the Italian club over his signature, but he has insisted that he would prefer a move to Arsenal instead, the Express reports.

The 20-year-old is currently on loan with Modena this season where he has so far bagged seven goals in ten games and has been linked with a £5m move to the Premier League.

West Ham were thought to be leading the chase and had already made contact with La Viola, but reports in his native Senegal claim that though he is aware of the interest from the Hammers he would prefer a switch to the Emirates instead.

He believes that being under the guidance of Arsene Wenger would significantly improve his game and be beneficial to his development.

“It is very encouraging when you are linked with clubs such as Arsenal, they are one of the best teams in the world and they do great things with young players,” he said.

“The manager there has such a good reputation to develop talent, but I am under contract with Fiorentina so they will have to decide if I have to go to England.

“I heard about West Ham through my agent, but they have not made anything official yet.”

Babacar first broke into the Fiorentina side back in 2009 but has gone on to make loan moves to Racing Santander, Padova, and now Modena.
