Mega-rich Premier League outfit Manchester City have now joined top-flight rivals Liverpool in the race to land exciting young FC Groningen forward Richairo Zivkovic, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The Dutch-Serbian attacking starlet has been making all the headlines in the Netherlands after turning in a number of eye-catching displays so far for his side in the Eredivisie, so much so that Zivkovic has now been dubbed the ‘new Arjen Robben’ in Holland because of the wide man’s likeness to the now Bayern Munich winger.

In fact, Zivkovic has even been snatching some of Robben’s goalscoring records off him of late, and all the attention on the youngster has now led to big-spending City showing an interest in the player.

Liverpool, however, have been  keeping close tabs on Zivkovic for some time now, with the Merseyside giants having even been sending scouts over to Holland to watch the starlet in action first hand since the summer.

“All the top clubs in Holland want him but Liverpool are here every week too,” revealed Groningen director Hans Nijland back in August.

“They are watching him closely and very keen.”

As a result, it now appears as though the two Premier League sides will go head to head at the end of this season in the race to land  Zivkovic’s coveted signature, although with a contract at Groningen that now runs until June 2016, neither top-flight team will get the wonderkid on the cheap though.
