Merseyside giants Liverpool are preparing to send young wide man Raheem Sterling out on a six-month loan deal to either a Premier League rival or a Championship outfit when the winter transfer window opens again for business in the new year, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The exciting England international has only been used as an impact substitute so far in this campaign under Reds head coach Brendan Rodgers, following the eye-catching season Sterling had under the Northern Irishman last time out.

Then, the 18-year-old appeared in a total of 36 matches in all competitions for the Merseysiders, including 24 in the top flight, scoring two goals in the process.

However, so far in this campaign the winger has played in only the eight matches to date, hitting the target just once in that time, six of which came in the league.

As a result, Rodgers wants to ship the starlet out on loan come the turn of the year in order for the youngster to gain some valuable game time going forward, although first the Liverpool manager wants to secure an experienced replacement for the Englishman, with Sporting Lisbon’s Diego Capel being mentioned as a possibility.
