Stamford Bridge side keen on Schalke teenager.
Chelsea are reportedly taking a keen interest in Schalke youngster Max Meyer with Sports Direct News claiming a Blues bid is imminent.
Meyer made his professional debut back in February aged just 17 and came on as a sub as Schalke lost 3-0 to Chelsea earlier in the week and now Jose Mourinho is ready to offer £12.5m for the creative midfielder.
The youngster has made 13 appearances this season, scoring three goals and providing two assists, and has shown great maturity beyond his years and the German Under 19 international is sure to have no shortage of suitors though a bid of this magnitude for the teenager may be tough for Schalke to ignore.
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is no doubt keen to put his stamp on the squad he inherited from former manager Rafa Benitez and a move for Meyer would be another step to preparing for the long term future of the West London club.
Meyer may however feel that a move to Chelsea at this point in his career could lead to an extended spell on the bench whereas at Schalke he is seeing a lot of action and will have watched on as young German international Julian Draxler has carved a career for himself at the Bundesliga side and is now one of the most wanted talents in European football.
