Giants Spartak Moscow are hoping to be able to convince in-demand wide man Aiden McGeady to sign a new contract to remain in the Russian capital beyond the end of his existing deal, which runs out at the end of this season, according to reports on talkSPORT.co,uk.

The highly rated Republic of Ireland international was attracting the attentions of Premier League outfit Everton during the summer, and with McGeady currently set to be available on a free transfer come the end of this campaign, it had been expected that the Toffees would make a move for the 27-year-old then.

However, Spartak now want to keep hold of the winger and are said to be preparing a new bumper long-term contract for McGeady that will see the Irishman’s current salary rise by a whopping £2.4 million a year before bonuses.
