Arsenal are said to be readying a move for Barcelona attacker Pedro after being encouraged to make a move for the Spanish international by the player’s representatives.

CaughtOffside understands that the 26 year old is set to make a transfer request after seeing his first team chances limited under new boss Gerardo Martino. Whilst Pedro has started seven of 12 La Liga fixtures he’s only been been in the Barcelona starting eleven on one occasion in the Champions League and believes that the lack of action could be detrimental to his position in Vicente del Bosque’s national team set-up.

The Tenerife born forward is used to being something of a supporting player in the Barcelona side but the arrival of Neymar and the resurgence of Alexis Sanchez has led to Pedro considering his options and is now ready to leave the Nou Camp if the right offer is forthcoming.

Arsene Wenger has sent club representatives to discuss a potential move for Pedro who the Gunners boss feels could be the ideal addition to beef up an attack that is currently overly dependent on Olivier Giroud.

The fact that Pedro can play out wide or in a central striking role is another string to his bow and Arsene Wenger will be handed sufficient funds in January to make a competitive offer for the Barcelona man as the North London club’s board look to back their manager they look to bring an end to a lengthy silverware drought.

Pedro has made a total of 225 appearances for Barcelona since making his debut for the Catalan giants back in January 2008, 69 of which came from the bench, and the pint sized front-man has netted 72 goals in the process.
