Liverpool are preparing to send out-of-favour young wide man Raheem Sterling on loan to Premier League outfit Swansea City when the winter transfer window opens again for business in the new year, according to reports in the Sunday Mirror.

The promising England international enjoyed a breakthrough season with the Merseyside giants last time out under then new Reds head coach Brendan Rodgers, with the 18-year-old featuring in a whopping 36 matches in total in all competitions for the club, 24 of which came in the Premier League, during which time Sterling managed to score his first two goals for Liverpool.

However, after then being taken out of the first-team picture following the new year by the Northern Irishman, who wanted to protect his winger from burnout, Sterling has since found it hard to win his place back in the Liverpool first XI.

And as a result, both the player himself and his manager now feel that the best thing for the starlet’s progress as a player would be for Sterling to get regular game time with another top-flight outfit in the second half of this campaign.

Consequently, it appears as though the Swans are winning the race to land Sterling on a six-month loan deal in January.
