Tottenham will reportedly launch a bid for Man United striker Javier Hernandez in January but only if they can offload Emmanuel Adebayor to make room for the Mexican in Andre Villas-Boas’s squad according to the Telegraph.

The 25 year old Man United man is said to be unhappy with his bit-part player status at Old Trafford and his decision to retweet a Sky Sports report on his likely exit to his 2.5m followers will only further speculation that he will seek a move in January.

David Moyes has barely used Chicharito this term but when called upon Hernandez has proved very effective, scoring four goals this season despite making just five starts in all competitions.

Villas-Boas will first have to remove Emmanuel Adebayor to make way for the potential addition of the Man United forward though selling the Togo international is proving a tricky prospect given the player’s massive £175k a week wage demands.

A move for Hernandez will also call into question Jermain Defoe’s future at White Hart Lane, especially given the fact that Tottenham invested almost £60m in signing Roberto Soldado and Erik Lamela.
