Cole’s days at the Bridge now very much appear to be numbered.
Premier League giants Chelsea will bid in excess of £20 million in order to beat off stiff competition from across the Continent to land highly rated young Sevilla defender Alberto Moreno when the winter transfer window opens again for business in the new year, according to reports in the Sunday Mirror.
The recently capped Spain international is currently said to be interesting both Liga outfit Real Madrid and Premier League champions Manchester United, with each team in desperate need of a new left back come the turn of the year.
However, now it appears as though the west London club are set to battle both Madrid and United for the Spaniard, with Blues owner Roman Abramovich said to be willing to splash the cash on Moreno come January time.
And that means there are now huge question marks being placed over the future of veteran Chelsea full-back Ashley Cole at Stamford Bridge, especially after the England international was dropped by Blues head coach Jose Mourinho from the west Londoners’ previous two fixtures, to be replaced by Spain international Cesar Azpilicueta.
Moreno, 21, has a contract with the Southern Spanish side that currently runs until June 30 2018.
