Andros Townsend Backs Tottenham New Boys To Make Imminent Impact

Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend has given his backing to the club’s new signings and has insisted that they will be firing on all cylinders in no time, according to the Daily Star.

The north London club slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Newcastle United on Sunday and much of the anger from the stands was directed at the fact that £30m Erik Lamela spent the entire game languishing on the bench instead of coming on to help provide a goal threat.

Lamela hasn’t set the league alight since making his summer move from Roma, but Townsend has insisted that he will be soon and the club’s lack of goals won’t be problematic forever.

“If we are winning 1-0 then we will take that because it is three points but if we are losing it is a problem,” he said.

“We are a relatively new side, we are a young side and we are still getting to know each other and learn each other’s games.

“Goals will come I’m sure of it – hopefully sooner rather than later.”

Spurs missed out on a golden opportunity to make ground on a number of their rivals on a weekend that saw Manchester City and Arsenal lose, and Everton and Chelsea pick up draws.

However, Townsend isn’t worrying too much about that, adding; “I think it is a bit too early in the season to be focusing on other results.

“We have just got to focus on our own results and in January, February, March we will see where it takes us and start looking at other results but at the moment it is all about what we do.”
