Vicente Calderon side want Anfield custodian.
Atletico Madrid are reportedly keeping tabs on loaned out Liverpool keeper Pepe Reina according to Sports Direct News.
The La Liga side’s current number one custodian is Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois, now in his third season long loan spell at the Vicente Calderon, and one would imagine that any interest in 31 year old Anfield man Reina would be directly related to whether Diego Simeone is unable to secure the services of the excellent young Belgian on a permanent basis.
Reina has impressed at Napoli, where he has reunited with former Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, with the Spaniard keeping five clean sheets and conceding just 11 goals in 12 Serie A fixtures.
Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers opted to bring in Belgian Simon Mignolet from Sunderland and sent Reina to reunite with Naples and it seems likely that the Spaniard has played his last game for the Merseyside club.
Reina left Barcelona for Villarreal in 2002 and is apparently seen as the ideal man to take over from Valdes, who has publicly stated his intention to leave the Catalan club at the end of the season.
Pepe Reina has made 394 appearances for Liverpool.
