Relegation-threatened West Ham United have suffered a double injury setback with the news that both key defender Winston Reid and club-record signing Andy Carroll may not feature for the east London outfit again this year, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

New Zealand international Reid suffered a knock to his ankle in training last week that forced the in-form centre back to then miss the Hammers’ trip to take on fellow strugglers Norwich City at Carrow Road in the league on Saturday.

And now Reid’s injury has been diagnosed as ankle-ligament damage, meaning the 25-year-old is likely to be out of action until the new year.

Meanwhile, there was more bad news for West Ham boss Sam Allardyce when striker Carroll’s planned comeback from injury was put back after the Englishman went down with a stomach bug.
