The Metro claim that the former Chelsea man has a £2.5m release clause that Arsene Wenger, who is a long term admirer of the Ivory Coast international, is ready to trigger.
Kalou enjoyed six successful seasons at Chelsea prior to a move to Ligue 1 in the summer of 2012 and the adaptable striker has proven a big success at the Stade Metropole.
Salomon Kalou has scored 19 goals in 47 matches for Lille and would be offer Wenger an experienced alternative to Olivier Giroud, who is currently overly relied upon by the North London club, not least because both Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott are sidelined.
Currently Wenger has use flop Nicklas Bendtner as his only possible alternative to Giroud and it’s worth noting that the Danish international’s last Arsenal Premier League goal came in December 2010.
Prior to his move to Lille Kalou netted 60 goals for Chelsea in 147 starts for the West London club.
