Capital club eye move for Premier League target.
Italian side Lazio are looking to steal a jump on Arsenal and Manchester United in the race for Red Bull Salzburg defender Martin Hinteregger, according to talkSPORT.
The Serie A giants have been looking to strengthen their back line this season and have been keeping a close eye on the 21-year-old with the view to make a move when the transfer window reopens in January.
And Hinteregger himself is aware of the interest after revealing in September that United and an unnamed Italian side had been looking into the possibility of making a bid.
Juventus are also thought to be interested in making a bid, but Lazio are prepared to fight them to make sure they get their man.
The centre-back, who is under contract until 2018, has already claimed two Austrian league titles in his short career and is valued at around £2m.
He has represented Austria at several youth levels, including under-21, and is largely expected to be handed a call up to the full side in the near future.
He has already featured 24 times this season, scoring three goals in the process and though he primarily operates at the back he can also fill in in a defensive midfield role too.
