The north London club, who currently lead the top-flight standings by just two points from Liverpool after the opening 11 matches of the season, host the Saints this weekend in what is sure to be another test of the Gunners’ title credentials.

However, Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger will have been lifted by the likely return to full fitness of both Wales international Ramsey and England international Walcott for the eagerly anticipated contest with the south-coast outfit.

Ramsey had been suffering from a tight hamstring of late, with the goalscoring midfield player having been forced to sit out his country’s friendly international against Finland at the Millennium stadium on Saturday as a precaution.

Meanwhile, wide man Walcott has been on the sidelines for the past six weeks with a stomach injury that eventually required surgery.

And there was also more good news for the north Londoners with German forward Lukas Podolski also set to be back in action by the end of this month.
