Hammers boss Sam Allardyce will be concerned as his sides lack of firepower having seen his side manage just nine goals in 11 Premier League fixtures and with Andy Carroll still out injured there is now an urgent need to bring in a new addition to the West Ham front-line in January.

West Ham have already been linked with apparent interest in Felipe Caicedo, Adebayor, Demba Ba, Jordan Rhodes and Jermain Defoe but Almeida now leads the Upton Park side’s wish-list.

The 29 year old has been a consistent performer since moving to Turkey, scoring 39 goals in 87 appearances for Besiktas, and prior to the move the powerful forward had done well in Germany with Werder Bremen, netting 63 goals in his five seasons at the club.

Almeida has proved no slouch in international football either, scoring 17 goals for Portugal.
