The 20 year old Belgian has hoped to be the prominent part of Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea squad this season, especially after some excellent displays during the West London club’s pre-season tours. However the returning Blues boss opted to send the powerful forward out on a season long spell at Everton.
It’s a move that Mourinho may well now regret given that in the space of six starts Lukaku has netted more Premier League goals, five, than Chelsea’s striking quartet of Fernando Torres, Demba Ba, Andre Schurrle and Samuel Eto’o have managed between them, just four thus far.
Arsenal could well do with additional striking options as currently Arsene Wenger is overly reliant on Olivier Giroud, all the more so as both Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski have been suffering with lengthy injury concerns.
The Gunners are not the only side interested in Lukaku though as both Everton and Man City are keen on the young forward, who may feel his chance of breaking into the Chelsea first team are fading.
Lukaku spent last term out on loan at West Brom where the young marksman netted 17 Premier League goals for the Baggies, form that he may have thought would have been sufficient to give him a decent run in the Chelsea first team set-up.
