Gunners looking to snap up full-back.
Arsenal are set to step up their pursuit of young Barcelona full-back Martin Montoya as he emerged as Arsene Wenger’s first choice to replace Bacary Sagna should he end up leaving the Emirates, Sports Direct News reports.
The Frenchman is currently in the final year of his deal with the north London outfit and is free to talk to interested parties in January, and as talks over a new deal continue to stall there is every likelihood that the squad could be left with a huge problem on their right hand side.
Sagna has been tipped to make a return to his native France with both big spenders Paris Saint Germain and Monaco lining up to land his services with long time target Montoya believed to be his ideal replacement.
And like Sagna, Montoya is also in the final year of his contract and has yet to agree fresh terms at the Nou Camp prompting wide speculation over where his future may lie.
The likes of Liverpool, Napoli and Inter Milan are all said to be monitoring his situation too, so Arsenal will need to act fast if they are to land their man.
