Young Nigerian ace hopes to catch Brendan Rodgers’ eye.
Young Lazio midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has confirmed that he hopes to be able to secure a move to Liverpool during the January transfer window, the Metro reports.
The 20-year-old is currently enjoying his second full season in the first team with the Serie A giants and has been increasingly linked with a move away in the new year as his strong performances continue to raise attention across Europe.
Liverpool have been just one of the clubs mentioned with making a move for him, and the player has confessed that that would be the one to interest him the most.
“I would jump at the chance to play in the Premier League,” said Onazi.
“Liverpool? They are a huge team and are attractive to any footballer. I could see myself playing for them.”
Several Liverpool scouts were reportedly in attendance to watch him star in Nigeria’s 2-2 draw with Italy at Craven Cottage on Monday night and were impressed by what they saw.
Lazio are thought to be asking for around £6m for his services and if Liverpool are interested they will have to compete with the likes of Ajax and Inter Milan, who are also said to be keen.
