The French international has impressed during his short spell in English football, having bagged six goals for the west London outfit in the second half of last season and has so far notched eight strikes in 10 appearances for Newcastle United, where he is spending the current season on loan.
Alan Pardew is desperate to keep a hold of him on a permanent deal next summer, but Arsenal, who were also interested in bringing him to the Emirates during the last transfer window, are still keen on landing his signature when his time at St James’ Park comes to an end.
It is believed that Remy has a £12m release clause installed in his Rangers contract, and the Gunners are said to be happy to match it whilst Newcastle are dragging their feet over the price and are hoping to pay less.
Whatever happens in January, Remy will see his contract with Newcastle out first before deciding on what to do at the end of the season.
