The 36-year-old, who is also the club’s all time top goalscorer, has been using the facilities at the London Colney training ground over the past week alongside another club legend, Robert Pires.

Henry, who now plays for MLS side New York Red Bulls, spent a successful short loan period back with his former side at the beginning of last year where he notched two goals – a winner in an FA Cup tie against Leeds United, and a last minute striker against Sunderland in his final appearance before heading back Stateside.

However, Wenger has insisted that a similar deal is not in the pipeline this time around, adding that the two veteran stars train with the first team sparsely.

“They like to come back to Arsenal, to practise,” Wenger said.

“When they can join in, they do. They integrate well with the spirit of the team, nothing more than that.

“They have no real target to bring something, they just want to enjoy themselves and keep their fitness. Usually they don’t practise with the first team, because they come in and work on fitness.

“When we have some room we invite them to play with us but usually they train separately to us.
