The 28-year-old is out of contract with the Bundesliga side at the end of the season and has been mooted as a possible signing for Arsene Wenger’s men having been linked to the Emirates for a number of seasons now.

Southampton were also believed to be interested, but Diego claims that it is the north London outfit who are leading the charge to land his services.

“I know there is interest from Premier League clubs,” he told the Brazilian media.
“I have heard one of them is Arsenal.”It is thought that Diego is keen to move on from the German side and could even sign a pre-contract agreement with an interested party in the new year when he will be allowed to speak to other clubs.

Diego is said to be interested in a move to England, having already established himself as a solid player in Germany with Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen, and he has also spent time in Italy with Juventus and Spain with Atletico Madrid.
