Having failed in their summer pursuit of a number of creative midfield talents, including Thiago Alcantara, Cesc Fabregas and Ander Herrera, David Moyes opted to meet Everton’s asking price for Marouane Fellaini and then proceeded to use the Belgian in something of a defensively minded holding role.
29 year old Dutch international Sneijder has long been on the Old Trafford radar and could well be interested in a move to the Premier League title holders though his current Turkish employers may not be keen on losing such a talented individual.
Newly appointed boss Roberto Mancini may be all the more unwilling to do business with the local rivals of his former club Man City.
Sneijder moved to the Istanbul club in January and has been a massive success, helping Galatasaray to a Super Lig title as well as assisting the Turkish giants in their run to the Champions League quarter-finals.
Prior to his move to Galatasaray Sneijder’s career was perhaps stagnating at Inter Milan, where he had won the treble in his first campaign at the San Siro but the club’s fortunes, as well as Sneijder’s, fell by the wayside once Jose Mourinho left.
