White Hart Lane side look to continue spending to improve squad ahead of top four push.
Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas is planning a January transfer window spree as he seeks to strengthen his squad after a shaky start to the season.
Sports Direct News claim that the White Hart Lane manager will look to land Everton full-back Leighton Baines.
Such a move may well make a great deal of sense given that Danny Rose remains injured and Jan Vertonghen has stated publicly he prefers to play at centre-back, and the Belgian was woeful up against Man City winger Jesus Navas on the weekend.
However Man United seem far more likely to win the race to sign the 29 year old.
Villas-Boas may well have a host of central midfielders to choose from but the Portuguese manager is now looking to lure Newcastle United’s Yohan Cabaye to offer more quality in the centre of the park.
One wonders where such a move would leave the likes of Moussa Dembele and Lewis Holtby, who have been dropped from Tottenham’s starting eleven of late.
