The former Chelsea manager is said to be on the verge of being sacked and will need a positive result against Man United on Sunday to save his job.

There is a growing sense that the Portuguese boss is all to quick to blame everyone bar himself for the North London club’s poor start to the season and this coupled with the fact that the 36 year old was handed £110m to invest in new players only to see his White Hart Lane side fail to make an impact.

Tottenham twice broke their transfer record over the summer to sign strikers Erik Lamela and Roberto Soldado but after securing 20 points from 12 games and following their worst defeat in almost 17 years there is growing pressure on Villas-Boas to turn things around as quickly as possible.
