Red Devils are desperate to land a new left-sided full back.

Premier League champions Manchester United have lined up a move for in-demand FC Porto defender Alex Sandro as a replacement for left-back Partice Evra at Old Trafford next season, according to reports in the Daily Express.

The experienced France international announced earlier this campaign that he would be leaving the Theatre of Dreams next summer to return to his homeland for unspecified “personal reasons”.

As a result, new Red Devils head coach David Moyes has recently been compiling a short list of possible replacements for Evra in the north west, and if reports in Record are to be believed, then the Scot is keen to sign the Portuguese champions’ left back.

The Brazil international has been at the Dragao since July 2011 when he arrived at the Portuguese giants from Santos on a five-year deal for a fee of 9.6 million euros, and already Porto have turned down one bid worth £12.5m from Serie A outfit Inter Milan for Sandro in the hope that United will now enter a bidding war for the attacking full back.

Moyes has so far been heavily linked with a number of left backs throughout Europe, including the likes of Everton’s Leighton Baines, Saint Etienne’s Faouzi Ghoulam, Real Madrid’s Fabio Coentrao and Sevilla’s Alberto Moreno, while Dutchman Alex Buttner is already at the club acting as Evra’s understudy.
