Manager David Moyes is thought to be ready to make the Brazilian available during the January window as he prepares to overhaul his squad and bring in a new generation of players to fit his mould at the club after he has failed to live up to his potential at Old Trafford.
He has seen his squad status diminish from being one of the most highly rated youngsters in 2007 to a forgotten name on the periphery of the first team now and he has also been linked with a move to fellow Premier League side Fulham.
However, the two La Liga sides have now stepped forward as they look to strengthen their own sides and give him the chance to kick start his career away from England.
Sevilla are hoping to add players to the ranks after seeing a number of high profile players such as Geoffrey Kondogbia and Alvaro Negredo leave over the summer as well as reported interest in Ivan Rakitic from Chelsea.
Villarreal also want to bring him on board in order to prolong their good form in the league this season, having just returned from the Segunda Division last term.
