Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes that the excellent early form of midfielder Aaron Ramsey can inspire teammate Jack Wilshire to reach similar heights at the club this season, according to the Daily Star.

Ramsey has already made a name for himself this term as one of the most in form players in the Premier League after already notching up 11 goals.

But Wilshire took a step towards matching up with his midfield cohort by scoring a well timed brace against Marseille in their Champions League clash on Wednesday night.

And Wenger has been delighted with how the pair have propelled the club to the top of the table already.

He said: “I liked his first goal because before he would rush a little bit.

“He is starting to think, ‘What (Aaron) Ramsey can do, I can do as well’, the first goal shows that.”

Wenger was also delighted with the side’s 2-0 victory over the French giants and went on to say; “We were in control of the game overall and I never really felt that we were under threat.

“Sometimes we were missing the cutting edge to finish the game off early on, but we were so much in control that we felt that would come. It came a little bit late for my taste, but it came.”
