Allardyce has set his sights on French international Andre-Pierre Gignac, a move that could be considered fairly ambitious given that the 27 year old is Marseille’s most effective forward.
The former Lorient man has netted six goals in just seven Ligue 1 starts this season and follows the likes of Diego Forlan, Salomon Kalou and Clint Dempsey as an addition to the East London club’s striker shopping list.
West Ham have scored just nine goals in 12 Premier League fixtures and have been without Andy Carroll for the entire season thus far and without the addition of a striker who can score regularly there is every chance that the Hammers could be in for a relegation dog-fight.
