Arsenal are reportedly one of a group of clubs leading the chase to sign PSG forward Edinson Cavani according to the Daily Express.

Chelsea and Man City are also said to be chasing the 26 year old Uruguayan who is apparently unsettled at the Parc des Princes just a few short months since completing a £53m move to the Ligue 1 club.

The former Napoli man is said to be unhappy at playing ‘second fiddle’ to Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic and has made his feelings known to his agent who is making discrete moves to see which sides are interested in his client.

Cavani is on a £7m a year after tax deal at PSG, which works out at £135k a week, and this could be a potential obstacle for Arsenal, who wage structure has already recently been tested by the arrival of German international Mesut Ozil

Arsene Wenger is keen to add to his striking options, with Olivier Giroud leading the Gunners line on his own, with Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski seen as wide attacking options, and a move to sign Cavani would be a tremendous statement of intent and would certainly aid in the club’s push to end a lengthy silverware drought.

Cavani has netted 12 goals in 17 matches for PSG and scored 104 goals in three seasons in Naples.
