The former Benfica man has been linked with making an exit from the Santiago Bernabeu over the summer, but coach Carlo Ancelotti decided to keep a hold of him for the time being after letting Mesut Ozil join Arsenal instead.
United boss David Moyes has reportedly been a long time admirer of Di Maria and will turn to Real Madrid with a concrete offer for the 25-year-old in the new year.
However, Moyes will find his path blocked by French giants Monaco, who in continuing to keep up with Paris Saint Germain, are targeting some of the world’s best players and want to make their own move for the Madrid ace.
Monaco were promoted from France’s Ligue 2 last season and wasted no time in swelling their ranks with the likes of Radamel Falcao, James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho.
