Jose Mourinho has seemingly ran out of patience with the former Benfica man and is ready to accept offers from Barcelona, who have previously targeted the 26 year old with a rejected £35m bid.

Though now sidelined with a knee injury Luiz was left on the bench in recent weeks and has made just five Premier League starts thus far this season.

Jose Mourinho appears to prefer a central defensive partnership of John Terry and Gary Cahill and can also call upon Branislav Ivanovic as a back-up option, though the Serbian is more commonly used at right-back.

Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino is desperate to boost his defensive options with Carlos Puyol and Gerard Pique increasingly injury-prone.

Though Luiz is something of a fan favourite at Stamford Bridge he is very error prone and regularly out of position.

Since moving to Chelsea in January 2011 David Luiz has made a total of 120 appearances and has helped the club to Champions League and Europa League triumphs but could well be tempted to join national team colleagues Dani Alves, Adriano and Neymar.
