The Toffees have signed the 31 year old on two previous occasions and Roberto Martinez is keen to pull off a hat-trick, a move that could well tempt the United States international.
In his previous two temporary switches Donovan greatly impressed and became something of a cult hero with Everton fans who would no doubt welcome the experienced attacker back with open arms.
Donovan could offer a fresh dimension to an Everton attack that relies heavily on loaned in Chelsea man Romelu Lukaku and the adaptable American would be a cost effective way to help the club’s push for European qualification.
The Californian has scored 102 goals in 214 MLS appearances for the LA Galaxy and made 22 appearances in his two previous Everton spells, during which he provided nine assists and two goals.
