Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard was reportedly attacked by a thug who assaulted the Anfield star near his home according to the Daily Mirror.
The 33 year old was not seriously hurt but is said to have been left shaken by the attack that occurred outside a shop after he had gotten out of his car.
Following the incident a police officer was then arrested for apparently attempting to obtain the CCTV footage of the incident.
Gerrard is still expected to lead his side against Hull City today.
