Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign Schalke youngster Julian Draxler according to the Daily Express.

The 20 year old is rightly considered one of the hottest prospects in European football and could be a player Schalke struggle to keep hold of and reports coming out of Germany suggest that Arsene Wenger is the manager most likely to snap up the starlet.
Draxler has a £38m buyout clause inserted into his long term Schalke deal and it’s a clause that Arsenal may well be ready to trigger as they look to end a lengthy silverware drought.
The German international has previously spoken directly about speculation of a possible move to Arsenal stating:
“I’ve always said English teams are very big clubs and Arsenal are one of them. I sometimes speak to Mesut or Per about the team, about the club, and they always have good words.”
Indeed the chance to join national team colleagues Mesut Ozil, Per Mertesacker and Lukas Podolski could well work in Arsenal’s favour.
Draxler has already racked up 130 appearances for Schalke and has ten national team caps to his name.
