Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is clearly on the lookout for striking additions to offer Olivier Giroud some much needed support but it’s no surprise that such an offer for the 24 year old Brazilian international was flatly rejected.

The Corinthians spent £10.4m on Pate in January and will presumably demand a similar fee for the former AC Milan man, who has become the subject of a great deal of abuse from his own club’s supporters.

Tottenham failed with a £12m bid for Pato over the summer and that should be some indication as to how much the Emirates Stadium side may need to fork out for the Corinthians man.

With Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott seen by Wenger as wide attackers Arsenal have been forced to draft Danish flop Nicklas Bendtner back into the first team set-up as a back-up option to Giroud.
