Premier League leaders Arsenal have agreed to sign highly rated young Real Madrid front man Alvaro Morata on a six-month loan deal when the winter transfer window opens again for business in the new year, according to reports in the Daily Express.

The Spain Under-21 international has only been used as a bit-part player so far this season by new los Blancos head coach Carlo Ancelotti, with the experienced Italian instead opting to go with the likes of Karim Benzema as the central striker at the Santiago Bernabeu.

As a result, Morata has so far featured in 12 matches in all competitions for the Spanish giants, although the majority of those have come via the substitutes’ bench, with the 21-year-old having registered two goals and one assist in the process.

However, with the north London club in desperate need of back up for France international Olivier Giroud at the Emirates in the second half of this campaign as the Gunners continue their search for trophies both at home and abroad, manager Arsene Wenger has seemingly pulled off something of a coup by persuading Madrid to part company with their in-demand forward in January.
