Cottagers now in pole position to land Brazilian flop.
Fulham are set to step up their pursuit of Manchester United midfielder Anderson now that former coach Rene Meulensteen has taken over the helm at Craven Cottage, according to reports in Sports Direct News.
Martin Jol was relieved of his duties in charge of the club on Sunday evening following another defeat and was immediately replaced by the former Reds coach in the managerial hot seat.
And with the club currently well and truly stuck in the bottom three, the new manager is aware of his need to strengthen the squad he has inherited and is quickly putting together a list of names he believes will propel them further up the table to safety.
Meulensteen will now return to United to make an offer for the out-of-favour midfield man in a bid to end his spell out in the cold, and a source close to the new manager said; “Rene may have just taken over permanently but he has been talking Anderson up since he came in alongside Martin.
“Now he’s in the dugout he can make his move.”
The 25-year-old has made just three appearances for the defending champions this season and is likely to exit on loan with the view of a permanent move later on in the year.
