Here is our crack at the best XI available to Arsene Wenger and it raises some interesting questions.

At present the back four pretty much picks itself, which isn’t to say that the likes of Nacho Monreal, Thomas Vermaelen and Carl Jenkinson don’t have anything to offer, more that a back four of Bacary Sagna, Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny and Kieran Gibbs trumps all other options at present.

We feel that Mikel Arteta is not able to compete for a spot in our XI, though the Spaniard is more than capable of putting in a performance he falls between two stools.

In terms of a steely presence Mathieu Flamini provides the goods and with a view to forward momentum Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey offer far more than the former Everton man.

There is also no room for Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott as we opt for Santi Cazorla and Mesut Ozil out wide to provide the ammunition for in-form Frenchman Olivier Giroud.
