The San Paolo outfit are keen to take advantage of the 30-year-old’s contract situation at the Emirates, with the France international’s current deal expiring at the end of the season he will be able to talk with other interested parties in the new year.

However, Rafael Benitez will have money to spend during the transfer window and will be looking to add a number of new faces to bolster his squad and keep their Scudetto claim a push during the second half of the campaign.

The former Liverpool and Chelsea boss will need to compete with the likes of Ligue 1 moneybags Monaco and Paris Saint Germain, though, as both clubs have expressed an interest in bringing the player back home.

Sagna has been with Arsenal since 2007 and has stated that he would like to stay in north London but Arsene Wenger runs a strict over-30 policy and is unwilling to offer him anything longer than a one year extension.
