Spaniard has only been used as a bit-part player at the Bernabeu so far in this campaign.

Rumours were rife all last week linking the Spain Under-21 international with a possible switch to north London at the turn of the year, while the likes of city rivals Tottenham, as well as the Bundesliga duo of Schalke 04 and Borussia Dortmund, have all also been mentioned as possible destinations for Morata in January.

However, both the striker and his head coach  at the Santiago Bernabeu, Carlo Ancelotti, were quick to deny that Morata was leaving the Spanish capital, while Gunners manager Arsene Wenger also claimed no knowledge of the deal, with the Frenchman stating that he was more than happy with the forwards he had at his disposal at the Emirates.

And now the 21-year-old has given an interview to Spanish sports daily AS, saying: “I’m happy here and I feel that the coach, Zidane and all of the technical staff have a lot of confidence in me.

“I’m still only 21 and I want to continue with Madrid for a long time. Every player always wants to play and the boss has shown that he has faith in me – he has brought me on during difficult games and I am happy to have been able to repay him for the trust he has demonstrated in my abilities.”

But when asked about the chances of him moving to the Premier League in January, the Spaniard refused to rule it out, replying:  “That’s a matter for my agent. I am very happy where I am and I hope to spend many more years with Madrid.”

Morata has so far featured in just the 12 matches for los Blancos in all competitions this season, registering two goals and one assist in the process.
