Indeed with Messi fully fit the Nou Camp boss may feel that the chance to field a front three including the Argentine, young Brazilian Neymar and Van Persie as too good an opportunity to pass up.
One would imagine Man United would fight off any interest in Van Persie, who netted 30 goals in his debut season at Man United and has scored ten goals in 14 appearances in all competitions during the current campaign.
If Van Persie genuinely doesn’t feel that Moyes can succeed at Man United then he may well feel compelled to consider his options and the chance to reunite with former Arsenal team-mates Cesc Fabregas and Alex Song may also be a motivating factor to making a move to join the La Liga side.
