The 24-year-old only joined City from Fiorentina over the summer following months of speculation surrounding his future in Tuscany, with the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Juventus and Inter all interested, but is now believed to be the Italian giants’ top priority in the new year along side his compatriot from Juventus, Mirko Vucinic.
Both players have been long time targets of the club and they will now press ahead with a move now that new owner Erik Thohir is in place and carries the desire to push the club back up to the top of the table where they belong.
Jovetic has not enjoyed the brightest start to life in Manchester, after injuries and a loss of form have meant that he has not been able to establish himself as a first team regular at the club.
However, it remains to be seen whether City boss Manuel Pellegrini would be willing to part with him so soon into his City career, but Inter will be waiting to pounce should they decide to move him on.
