The Red Devils are currently languishing down in ninth place in the top-flight standings, a full 13 points behind the leaders Arsenal and still seven away from the fourth and final Uefa Champions League qualifying spot for next season.

And as a result, it is believed that new United head coach David Moyes will now enter the market at the turn of the year to bring some much-needed creativity and inspiration to the Premier League giants’ so far ailing midfield, with the Scot thought to be eyeing up a possible move for Sneijder in January.

The highly rated Netherlands international has only been with the Turkish champions since January, when the playmaker arrived at Gala from Inter Milan on a three-and-a-half-year deal for a fee of just 7.5m euros.

However, with Sneijder having recently parted company with his long-time agent Soren Lerby, there is a feeling at Old Trafford that the player is keen to depart Istanbul and with a reported release clause in his contract valued at £13m, the Dutchman would be easily affordable.
