Premier League champions Manchester United are thinking of selling unsettled midfield player Shinji Kagawa when the winter transfer window opens again for business in the new year, with Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund hoping to re-sign the Japanese according to reports in German sports daily Welt.

The highly rated playmaker has only been at Old Trafford now since June 2012, when Kagawa left the Ruhr Valley for the north west on a four-year deal.

However, it is fair to say that in the intervening year and a half, the 24-year-old has failed to either properly settle at the Theatre of Dreams or win a regular starting berth either in the Red Devils first team.

As a result, the Japan international has featured in just the 37 matches in total in all competitions so far for United, scoring six goals in the process, while in the Premier League itself the player has made only 25 appearances for his new team.

And with United now struggling badly for form in the top flight, it is understood that new head coach David Moyes is willing to offload Kagawa at the turn of the year, with the player’s former club know to be keen for their one-time star to re-join them in January.
