Stoke City are lining up a January bid for Borussia Monchengladbach striker Luuk De Jong according to the Daily Mirror.

Britannia Stadium boss Mark Hughes is keen to strengthen his attack with the Potters managing just 15 goals in their opening 15 Premier League fixtures.

Stoke City scouts were in attendance to watch Monchengladbach defeat Schalke on the weekend though De Jong only came on as a late sub and has barely been used this season due to the former FC Twente man falling out with boss Lucien Favre.

Therefore it would appear likely that a decent offer for De Jong would be accepted by the Bundesliga side though one wonders how much Borussia Monchengladbach would demand for a player who cost £12.6m just over 18 months ago.

Luuk de Jong may well jump at the chance of a fresh challenge having failed to start a single Bundesliga fixture this season.
