Chelsea are ready to sell bit-part player Demba Ba to AS Roma but only if the Serie A side meet their valuation of the Senegal international according to Goal.com.

The 28 year old striker’s representatives have already opened talks with the Italian side though Stadio Olimpico boss Rudi Garcia will have to fork out £12.6m to sign the former Newcastle United man.

That fee is almost twice the £7m Chelsea paid for Ba just under a year ago, which is a tad surprising given that Jose Mourinho has barely used the forward this season.

A move to Arsenal is less likely as Mourinho will block a sale to a domestic rival.

Ba has made just two Premier League starts this season but has managed to net three goals in his last seven appearances in all competitions.

AS Roma have started the current campaign in superb fashion, remaining unbeaten after 15 Serie A fixtures, but Garcia’s side do perhaps lack a prolific marksman and Ba may be seen as a possible option in this regard.

Indeed despite sitting in second spot in the Serie A the Giallorossi’s top scorer, Alessandro Florenzi, has managed just four goals.

Ba is currently behind Fernando Torres and Samuel Eto’o in Mourinho’s Chelsea pecking order, with further additions being fairly likely.
