The Red Devils have made the recruitment of midfield reinforcements their top priority next month, with it understood that new United head coach David Moyes is keen to bring at least one creative player and one holding midfield player to the Theatre of Dreams at the turn of the year.
And it is the experienced Colombia international who fits the first description, with representatives from United believed to have already flown to Italy to start negotiations over luring Guarin to the north west in January.
Guarin, 27, only moved to the Serie A giants in January 2012, initially on a six-month loan deal from Portuguese champions FC Porto and then on a permanent contract at the end of that season, with Inter paying 11 million euros to sign the attacking midfield player.
And so far in this campaign, the player has managed to register three goals and nine assists in his 19 matches in all competitions for Inter.
